As far as a single person being in trouble in a whirlpool it is entirely plausible. But in order to get a full size ship stuck in a whirlpool the pool would have to be miles wide and be traveling above the speed of sound which just doesn’t exist. And like every time Mythbusters Series is back with 2 other new myths to be tested. On 29th June 2011 Mythbusters Season 9 Episode 11 was aired, with a title “Paper Armor”. As the title suggests one of the myth that was tested was based on paper armor, in this myth we tried to test that did armies in ancient China use paper armor that was as effective as steel.
To know whether this myth is correct or not Kari approached Greg Martin, the antique armor expert, in this Mythbusters Season 9 Episode 11. He confirmed that in ancient China paper armor were used and also told her how they were made. After that the team made samples of paper and steel armor and tried out different attacks on both of them while keeping them over a block of clay. Paper armor passed the attacks of arrow and sword but couldn’t take blunt force attack.
Later the team themselves wore the armors of both types and ran to test it for speed, agility and endurance. Further they also tried attacks from pistol and .45 revolver and the armor could not resist revolver’s attack. Finally declaring the myth as plausible.
Another myth that was tested in this Mythbusters Season 9 Episode 11 was can a swimmer increase his chances of surviving an underwater explosion by floating at the surface. For this myth we saw Adam and Jamie making a tank with depth of 15 foot. They filled it with water and for measuring the effect of the shock wave they fitted it with sensors at four depths. Using a .357 revolver shock wave was created which had the least impact on the surface, as per the sensors.
Further same thing was tried at the lake and the test led to a conclusion that a person floating would survive at 30 feet. Thus after getting this result the mythbusters declared the myth as confirmed.

Once again we had Adam, Jamie and their team testing two myths, the first one was taken from a movie. The first myth tested in Mythbusters Season 9 Episode 10 was that can mirrors be used to reflect sunlight and illuminate a tomb. For this myth Adam and Jamie built a obstacle course with glasses set up in rows and the aim was to find out what level of minimum light is necessary to cross the path without falling on or breaking glasses.
Secondly he used polished metal mirrors and modern glass mirrors were used and light levels were recorded. Further myth was tested in a tomb like structure also and using six mirrors. Finally they came to a conclusion that this myth was plausible but ridiculous.
While other three members of Mythbusters’ team namely Kari, Tory and Grant were busy testing another myth in this Mythbusters Season 9 episode 10. The myth was whether a runaway car can be stopped by another car by pulling in front and slowing down. During this we had Kari driving a car, leaving the accelerator and the car was easily stopped but with the step on accelerator, stopping the car took much effort.

Last week we saw Mythbusters Season 9 Episode 9 titled “Fixing a Flat”. And as the name suggests the episode had Adam and Jamie using different ways to find a solution to a flat tire when you do not have a spare one and a mechanic is also not available. Though most of the ways which they tried were not able to prove the myth except for the wooden wheel option.
Talking about the latest episode, Mythbusters Season 9 episode 10 was titled “Planes ,Trains and Planes”. The show had nothing new but it showed us earlier myths that involved all types of transportation. Each myth that was shown in this episode was chosen by the cast that is the team of Mythbusters series.
The myths were divided into total 12 myths in this Mythbusters Season 9 episode. This Mythbusters Season 9 episode 9 was aired on 8th June 2011 and was titled based on its first myth that is, “Fixing a Flat”. I was really eager to know as to whether anything can work out so that maybe we can try it at the time of actual situation. While testing the first myth Adam and Jamie used highway and the urban city road. In case of highway first they tried out stuffing straw in the flat tire but this proved to be a short term solution as in long term this wouldn’t work.
They also used branch in the flat tire which proved to be totally useless. And then they used a wooden wheel made of exact size of the tire and this one worked as it crossed all the hurdles with it.
In the urban city case Adam and Jamie tried driving on the rim of flat tire, then by using a manhole cover of same size of the wheel and finally driving on all four rims of the tires. Adam and Jamie made the situation even more exciting by racing their vehicles one using manhole cover and other on four rims. And finally Jamie won the race with bare rims.
The other myth on this Mythbusters Season 9 episode 9 busted as Adam and Jamie could not prove that a fishing reel can catch fire with a fast enough fish on the line.

Once again they are back with another episode of Mythbusters Season 9, solving two myths as they always do. All the fans of Adam and Jamie very well know that both of them try to prove whether a myth is true or not, the myth can be a real one or shown in a movie, TV series or on internet.
And here on Mythbusters Season 9 episode 8 we have them on viewers demand trying to prove whether a person can dodge the bullet or not. Yes you guessed it right this myth is taken from Matrix movie only where the main cast dodges the bullet. On screen it looks amazing when the star does it but I really wanted to know whether it is actually possible.
Jamie and Adam called U.S army sniper, Dave Liwanag, for this episode. First they noted the time taken by a bullet to reach the target if the sniper is at a particular distance like 200, 500 and 1200 yards. After noting this they tried to dodge a shot using a camera flash as the muzzle flash.
Adam and Jamie tried to notice the muzzle flash when Dave fired the blank cartridges from various distances but they could only see the flash when they were at a distance of 200 yds. They even used Hollywood blanks which were easily seen at all distances but they couldn’t dodge that bullet also. Finally it was proved that the myth is busted as a sniper will not let the target see the muzzle flash.
Another myth that was tried on this Mythbusters season 9 episode 8 was that whether injuries caused by falling in water and on pavement at same height will have same impact. This myth was also busted with all experiments proving that injuries from water will be lesser as compared to pavement.

On 18th May 2011, once again our favorite mythbusters Adam and Jamie were there to tell us the reality of another myth in the Mythbusters Season 9 episode 7, titled “Spy cars 2″. This time they tried to prove that whether a pursuing car can be attacked with the help of wheel spikes and a hood mounted machine gun.
And they were proved right that it can be done. This episode was very exciting, Jamie and Adam made wheel spikes which were close copies of that used in movie Goldfinger and The Green Homet. While one got seated in the spikes equipped vehicle the other was there in the pursuing car. In both cases whether wheel spikes or hood mounted gun the pursuing car was damaged and stopped. By putting wheel spikes Jamie was able to damage the bodywork and the tyres were also not left in a proper state.
In this Mythbusters Season 9 episode we also saw Adam giving Jamie a tough time by hitting him by a paintball gun which was mounted on the hood and fixed. Thus once again proving that yes a pursuing car can be damaged and stopped.
